Welcome to the website of Harvey Norman Racing & Superstock 57P driven by Dave Tarrant.
My apologies for taking so long to start putting reports, pictures and videos up, but this trying to run a business and learning to drive a stockcar sure takes it’s toll!
Firstly a brief background on how this all came about. I am the son of the late, legendary Ray Tarrant who commentated Speedway for over twenty years and for most of those early years I was there beside him helping run down to the pits asking drivers anything he needed to know and earning my most precious “free” season pass.
After he passed away suddenly in December 05′ I thought my connection with Speedway in Palmy would end. I had a burning desire to at least pilot something around the track where I had spent so much time as a spectator, growing up, until I mentioned it to my older brother Herb(best known for his sidecar exploits) who said he would talk with Puk and see if there was a car available for me to fulfill my dream. Before I knew it I was Belted into the track owned car and was out on my first superstock race.
Two and a Half races were completed with the only contact coming from Me vs Wall and of course the wall always wins. Not long after Herb and I joked about buying a car and starting a team, well I was joking he was serious! Not Before long and after many many Web Links and Photos were exchanged we headed up to Auckland to meet with stockcar Legend Neil McCoard to check out a car previously driven by Dane Wright.
Before I knew it the deal was done and we had a car on it’s way down to Palmy. Then the hard work started, lucky Herb had plenty of great mates willing to spend many long hours working late into the night to get us ready for kick off in October.
I can’t thank Herb, Kevin (arnie) Armstrong, Robin (flash) Wallace, Bernie Hammond AKA Bad Boy! and Steveo enough for getting everything done on time and to such a high standard. You Guys rock!!
